political cartoon

This political cartoon was published in the Buffalo News on 1/22/2010 by Adam Zyglis. Titled the Supreme Court Decision. This political cartoon is discussing the overturn of the supreme court decision that recently happened in washington. Basically says that now corporations will be able to buy elections because there is now no spending limit for the amount you can donate to a campaign. I dont agree with this decision at all because buying elections doesnt elect the right official into office. I really hate to see the next election and enormous amounts of money being spent on it when there are so many people in the world who need help.

your choice

For my choice I will discuss the book I am currently reading / my favorite author and upcoming movies. The book I am reading is the last song by Nicholas Sparks, so far it hasnt gotten very interesting but I love his North Carolina style he writes in. The movie based on his book Dear John is coming out on February 5th and it looks pretty good. And of course it doesnt hurt that Channing Tatum plays the main boy in it:) I also enjoy his costar because I have seen other movies with her in them. Alice in Wonderland also comes out on Februaury 5th and I am VERY excited to see that also because it looks like it is going to be CRAZY! I want to read Dear John again before I see the movie becuase it can be entertaining to compare, plus I kind of forget what happens because I read everyone of his books:)

2010 economy

I think that in this coming economy for the next decade that thigns will get worse before they get better. I think that the US will have to get the international debt situation undercontrol before we get rid of our economic debt within our country. I think that Obama has good plans for us to improve our economy as far as jobs and the universal healthcare bill. I think that his plans will lead us on the right path for this new year/ decade.

political cartoon #5

This political cartoon is by Pat Bagley and was published in the Salt Lake Tribune 1/8/2010. Titled Police. This politcal cartoon is telling you how important and thankful citizens should be for our law enforcement officers. I think this politcal cartoon is trying to get the viewer to appreciate those who serve us on a constant basis a bit more.

holiday decorations

I think holiday decorations are annoying in general. I think that holiday decorations in public are perfectly acceptable though, as long as everyone feels that they can do decorations that represent their faith. I think that holiday decorations are usually all surrounding christmas which i could see as frustrating for other religions. I think that holiday decorations are merly put up by stores as advertisement and we all know that stores will do whatever it takes to bring the customers in. I see decorations as that is how business are attracting customers during the holiday season.

favorite holiday

My favorite holiday is fourth of july. This is my favorite holiday because it is during the carefree time of the summer and my birthday is the day after. I like 4th of july because it is just like i have a two day party for my birthday. I like this holiday because everyone is happy and just enjoying the day celebrating independence in whichever way they choose. I love the fireworks on fourth of july, no other holiday usually has fireworks.

political cartoon 4

This political cartoon is called the Last Decade by John Darkow. It was posted on 12/31/09 in the Columbia Daily Tribune. This cartoon has 2009 burying the last decades major events to put them to rest for the new "baby" of 2010.2010 is cynical in saying that even with all the disasters in the last decade with all the future problems ahead of the nation well look back being thankful for the last decade.

political cartoon 3

I chose the political cartoon security 2010 by Frederick Deligne. It was published 1/1/10 This politcal cartoon portrays the future for security in airports and mocking it by saying you'll have to show them everything you have to prove your not a terrorist. This cartoon is letting the public know how invasive security has become/ will become. I like the point of this political cartoon, it is right on target. B/c of 9/11 and other instancese airport security can take over 3 hours and you are subject to be a random person who is fully searched. I overheard a radio talk show discussing the new policies on an airline about how the passengers could not even have a jacket in their laps and couldnt access any entertainment or snack/drink. I think the overboard security is what Americans answers to the terrorist attacks were but in reality no ones wants to be subject to this searching.
